Does Tuck work on macOS 27?
Yes, through the optional Tuck 1.0.27 macOS 27 Compatibility Preview 3. This is an early compatibility build for people already testing macOS 27 Golden Gate Beta, not stable macOS 27 support and not a replacement for the stable Tuck release.
Preview 3: Push Mode, Shelf Mode, application-level visibility rules, shortcuts, and recovery after sleep or unlock are available for testing. The build is signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and uses a separate signed Preview update feed.
Why macOS 27 needs a separate compatibility path
macOS 27 changed how menu bar items are exposed to third-party utilities. Items from the same app can now be presented as a composite group instead of independent windows. Tuck selects a separate compatibility backend on macOS 27 while preserving its existing macOS 14–26 implementation.

Known macOS 27 limitations
macOS 27 is still prerelease software, and behavior may change in later beta builds.
- Core macOS controls such as Wi-Fi, Sound, Control Center, and the clock remain visible.
- Multiple menu bar items from the same app are managed together.
- Some menu bar items may not open directly from Shelf; choose Show All to access them.
- Accessibility permission is required. Screen Recording is optional and is only used where Tuck needs to refresh visual menu bar previews.
- The current Preview was verified on macOS 27.0 Beta build 26A5388g.
How Preview updates work
Preview 2 and later use appcast-preview.xml, a dedicated signed Sparkle feed that is separate from stable Tuck releases. Preview 2 users receive Preview 3 automatically. Preview 1 build 27 still points to the stable feed, so Preview 1 users need to download and install Preview 3 manually once. Future Preview builds can then arrive through Tuck’s normal update checker.
Stable Tuck users never receive a Preview automatically. The stable feed remains on Tuck 1.0.28 for macOS 14–26.
